GMO corn MON 810 and NK603: no effects on the health and metabolism of rats

A recent article published in Toxicological Science describes an experiment on transgenic corns (glyphosate tolerant) given for six months as a diet to rats. The goal was to obtain information using “omics” techniques to track down weak metabolic signals susceptible to be precursors to longer term diseases. The GeT and Metatoul platforms of Génotoul participated in this work. The main conclusion is that under the conditions of the protocol used, no effect of genetically modified maize was observed both on the general health and metabolism of the rats.
